Mental Health Resources

By

Mental Health Resources:  In March 2017, Netflix released a series titled 13 Reasons Why, based on a novel, which centers on sexual assault and teen suicide. While the story is fictitious, the content, at times using graphic language and images, deals with serious issues that affect youth today.  For some students, the subject matter of the program, or resulting conversations with peers, may be upsetting, especially for those who struggle with thoughts of suicide.

During the school year, school counselors are available to support students who are struggling emotionally.  In the summer, while schools are closed, there are mental health resources available in the community:

  • 24-Hour Washington County Crisis Line: (503)291-9111

  • Hawthorne Walk-In Center: (503)846-4555, located at 5240 NE Elam Young Parkway #100, Hillsboro, OR 97124

  • National Suicide Prevention: (800)273-8255 / Español (888)628-9454
