What is SEL?

Social-emotional learning (SEL) is the process of developing the self-awareness, self-control, and interpersonal skills that are vital for school, work, and life success.

At Archer Glen, we incorporate SEL into our student’s education as a means to give them skills to handle all emotions, challenges, and social situations as their growing brains navigate this world. We teach these various ways, through Community Circle meetings, specific lessons to teach developmentally appropriate skills (based on Second Steps and Sanford Harmony curriculum), specific social emotional support through our school counselor and Green Room lead, and through continual support in the classroom.

If you have any questions or concerns about SEL, please reach out to our school counselor, Hannah Stere, at HStere@sherwood.k12.or.us.
